Better by Bike
BIKEFEST DESIGN COMPETITION - CALL FOR ENTRIES
Better By Bike is back! First staged in 2010, Better by Bike is a biennial national design competition unearthing improvements in bike, infrastructure or accessory design that improve the experience of the bike rider.
Previous winners include bikes made from bamboo, accessories with a hi-vis weave, a lightweight portable mudguard and ‘Don’t Door Me’ stickers for car rear view mirrors. You can read profiles of previous winners at The Squeaky Wheel.
Bikefest is calling students, design professionals or bicycle enthusiasts to submit designs, ideas and programs that make the world better by bike.
Whether it's better cycling design, better fashion, better accessories, better infrastructure or fostering better communities - Bikefest wants your bicycle-related designs and ideas. See early bird entries for 2012 here.
CRITERIA
We are looking for designs and ideas that are:
Handy - Got a technical improvement, a whole new project, an engineering revolution, a nifty streamliner, a modification?
Happy - Found a way to make the rider smile, make the city safer for cycles, a system, a program, an event?
Healthy - Can you get more people riding, more diversity, more engagement with community?
Hot - Can you make bike riders look even better, brighter, more comfortable or cool?
These categories can be used as inspiration but are by no means constraints.
